Network Operations NMS Specialist

 

Job description:

                               The NMS Senior Specilaist reports to the Head of Global Network Operations Center (NOC) and will be part of the Network Operations organisation.The job holder is responsible for developing the Bank’s NMS strategy to monitor the range of equipment - routers & switches, proxy, Firewalls, load balancers etc. Lead the effort in Installing, deploying, updating, configuring, and administering network management and operations systems used for a 24X7 production (NOC).  Developing software to integrate with NMS monitoring systems and enhancement.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop NMS strategy and deploy
• Manage NMS systems – Spectrum, SNAPPiMON etc
• Deploy and adapt NMS Infrastructure based on free IP software for authorization, authentication, syslog collection, trap processing, configuration backup etc
• Explore open source NMS tools and use best practices.
• Assess network monitoring needs and determine future tool requirements.
• Create new NMS tools as needed.
• Interface all network monitoring systems with existing monitoring framework used in the IOC.
• Work with Network stakeholders to develop tools for automation.
• On call for NMS troubleshooting escalation.
• Create scripts as required

Qualifications and experience:

• University degree – Computer Science or Communications
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Ability to interface with multiple internal and external teams
• Have experence in setting up NMS from scratch.
• Working knowledge of routers, switches, and related network hardware.
• 10-15 years experience as NMS engineer or network administrator with NMS focus.
• 5 years experience in perl programming in a Unix/Linux environment.
• Experience in programming in C or C++ in a Unix environment.
• Deep working knowledge of SNMP (simple network monitoring protocol) & IP protocols.
• Working knowledge open source NMS tools .
• Working knowledge of Cacti or other similar open source NMS tools.
• Experience with Juniper, Cisco, Bluecoat, and F5 product lines.
• Experience with varieties of Open Source Network Management Software.
• Experience with hardware abstraction and connection software like Rancid.
